Introduction

A polygon is a closed 2-dimensional figure with three or more sides.  Triangles are three-sided polygons.  Quadrilaterals are four-sided polygons. The most common quadrilaterals include squares and rectangles, but there are many others.  Like triangles, quadrilaterals are classified by their angles and sides.

There are 6 special quadrilaterals that will be covered in this unit: rectangle, square, parallelogram, trapezoid, rhombus, and kite.   Each shape has its own set of properties to become familiar with as well as finding their area and perimeter.
