Logic comes from the Greek word "logos" which can be transated to mean  "sentence", "reason", or "rule."  In this unit, studying logic means the study of correct reasoning or critical thinking.  When writing proofs, thinking logically is very important to determine the steps necessary to go from what is given  to the statement that must be proved.

When learning about the Laws of Logic, there are certain terms that you will need to remember and understand. A number of these terms will be discussed in this section.
